XPost: alt.philosophy From: x@y.z Paradox:If human thinking is worthless, then the conclusion itself is necessarily flawed. The clueless cannot recognize his cluelessness and remain clueless. But in all fairness, paradox is "justified" if the assertion "the situation is meaningless" as Sir Frederick, Jeff Relf and others have stated in this NG. Philosophy... thinking about things outside our everyday context, does change things. Everyone does it. Some more than others: someone who has just survived cancer for example will have a lot to think about. Or maybe a scientist after a discovery like determining the age of the universe or the Aspect experiment. We humans can't help pursuing this part-time activity. It also affects our thoughts and our world-view, reconfiguring our minds and necessarily influencing our actions as a result. I think you're also saying that we should only engage in activities that (directly) produce things? All engineering and no research? All carpentry and no geometry? All work and no play? Philosophy does not make any sense, nor does anything at all.
