XPost: rec.pyrotechnics From: dukerx_NG02@dukerx.no-ip.com A supernova is ... created when a really large star that has depleted its fusion fuel, wich is hydrogen, and can no longer maintain the nuclear fusion reaction that has been going on inside the star for a very long time. This lack of constant outward pressure makes the star collapse under it's own weight, and it's mass is compressed into a very dense form, wich is not very stable, and at some point in that process the pressure get too much and the star is blasted into dust. Note that this is a very simplified version what causes a supernova. Also, there is much that is not known about this event in a star's life. To make a supernova, you'd need to accelerate the fusion proces in the star to make it spend it's fuel at a higer rate, or by magic or some other yet unknown means remove the hydrogen fuel from the star. Just a sub-note... I've heard that 30% of the american population doesn't know that our sun is in fact a star, not very unlike the stars that can be spotted on the night sky... This is a rumor here in the land of the Vikings, but I would like to know if anyone else have heared such ... stories. Somehow, I felt this was the right thread to post the last question... "G.K.
